A Day in the Langhe: Barolo Village, Wine Tasting & Rooftop Lunch

Step out of Turin and into the hills behind the world's most famous wine. The Langhe are a UNESCO World Heritage landscape of vine-covered ridges, medieval villages and a slow, generous food culture. The best way to see them? From the passenger seat.

Your driver is Maurizio, the founder of Around Turin: born and raised in Turin, a genuine local, personally connected to the wineries and the people you are about to meet. He collects you at your hotel in Turin city centre, drives you through the hills and stays with you for the whole day, filling the road with anecdotes, real stories and his own passion for this land, so all you have to do is sit back, taste and enjoy the view.

STOP 1 · BAROLO VILLAGE The day opens in the village that gave its name to the King of Wines. Cobbled lanes, stone houses, small wine shops and the castle, home of the WiMu Wine Museum. The panorama over the Langhe from up here is already worth the trip.

STOP 2 · VINEYARD WALK, WINERY TOUR & BAROLO TASTING IN NOVELLO The heart of the day: Cantina Mauro Marengo, a family-run estate in Novello. Daniele or Pier walks you through the Terlo and Ravera crus, explaining the land behind every bottle, then takes you inside the winery, from grape to glass. The tasting takes place at La Risorseria, in the heart of the medieval village: 6 wines and 2 Vermouth in total, including 2 Barolo.

STOP 3 · LUNCH ON A ROOFTOP ABOVE THE VINEYARDS Lunch with the view you will remember for years: a rooftop restaurant suspended above the hills of Barolo, with a floor-to-ceiling glass wall framing the vineyards — so the panorama is there whatever the season, winter included. A premium atmosphere and a menu that tells the story of Piedmont: an antipasto, a first course and a dessert, served with an excellent local wine pairing, with a breathtaking view over the Langhe hills.
