TRANSPORT

Getting Around

Turin is one of Italy's most navigable cities. Whether you prefer the metro, a historic tram, a bicycle or your own two feet, getting around is straightforward and enjoyable.

Metro

  • Turin has one metro line (Line 1) running from Collegno to Bengasi — fast, clean and reliable.
  • Stations are modern and well signposted in Italian and English.
  • Trains run:
    — from 5.30 A.M. to 9.30 P.M. from Monday to Thursday;
    — from 5.30 A.M. to 1 A.M. on Friday and Saturday;
    — from 7.00 A.M. to 9.30 P.M. on Sunday

  • A single metro ticket costs €1.90 and is valid for 90 minutes across all transport.

Buses & Trams

  • GTT operates an extensive network of buses and historic trams across the city.
  • Download the GTT app for real-time timetables and journey planning.
  • A daily pass (Giornaliero) costs €5.50 — great value if you plan multiple journeys.
  • Validate your ticket immediately upon boarding — inspectors do check.
  • Tram line 4 goes directly to the Allianz Stadium on match days.

Taxis & Ride-Hailing

  • Official taxis are white — always use metered cabs or book via the itTaxi app.
  • Book online: www.taxitorino.it
  • Uber is available in Turin but more limited than in other major cities.
  • Average fare from the city centre to Allianz Stadium: €15–20.
  • Ask for a receipt ('ricevuta') — it's your right and ensures a fair fare.

Cycling

  • Turin is a very cycle-friendly city with dedicated bike lanes throughout the centre.
  • Bike-sharing stations (Bicincittà) are found all over — register online or via app.
  • E-scooters (Tier, Lime, Bird) are widely available and a fun way to explore.
  • The riverside path along the Po is perfect for a cycling morning.

Walking

  • The historic centre is compact and extremely walkable — most sights are within 2km.
  • The arcaded pavements ('portici') keep you sheltered from rain and summer sun.
  • Many streets in the centre are pedestrianised or low-traffic.
  • Evening walks through Piazza Vittorio or along Via Po are a Turin ritual.

From the Airport

  • Turin Airport (Caselle) is 16km north of the city centre.
  • The Sadem bus runs every 30 minutes to Porta Nuova station — journey time ~45 min, fare €7.
  • Taxis cost approximately €35–45 to the city centre (fixed rate).
  • The train connection between Turin Caselle Airport and the city center is operated by Trenitalia via the Metropolitan Railway Service (SFM): travel time approximately 31 minutes from Torino Aeroporto di Caselle station to Torino Porta Susa. Trains run 7 days a week, with a frequency of one train every 30 minutes. From Torino Porta Susa to the Airport, on weekdays, the first departure is around 5:01 AM and the last is at 9:25 PM. From the Airport to Turin, on weekdays, the first departure is around 6:00 AM and the last is at 10:28 PM.

  • A one-way ticket costs a flat rate of €3.70. Tickets can be purchased online via the Trenitalia website or app, or at the self-service ticket machines located at the stations.
